Did you stop to think that the offences committed in the Commonwealth Games scam and the Adarsh scam are actually criminal conspiracies, and not just some kind of goof-ups? Did you realize that these are actually instances of both Organized Crime and Serious Fraud, and there are very harsh laws governing both? When we felt happy that Sonia-madam called Suresh Kalmadi and Ashok Chavan and gave them a dressing-down, we just had wool pulled over our eyes. When we feel satisfied that CBI is conducting an enquiry, we are entirely missing the point!
AND THE POINT IS… Where are the FIRs? Where are the arrests? Is there a law that says that VIPS shall not have FIRs registered against them? Why are the people named in these conspiracies –Suresh Kalmadi, Ashok Chavan, Vilasrao Deshmukh and a dozen mantris, babus, private dalals etc – not being held in CBI custody or judicial custody? By leaving them free and in power, isn't the police and judicial system giving them ample time to hush up witnesses and destroy evidence?
Are ministers and bureaucrats who pervert the mechanisms of governance for private gains above the ordinary processes of law that govern the rest of us citizens? Some of us have been behind bars for actions of far lesser magnitudes, you know!
Suddenly, I'm not feeling like an equal citizen in my own country any more. I feel like a "subject" of occupied India.
