[rti4empowerment] Northern Railway initiative against obscene toilet remarks

Friends,

Yesterday I got a letter which gave me utmost satisfaction to know that one of my small initiatives had been appreciated by the concerned Department and appropriate action taken in this regards.  I am talking of letter from Northern Railway which has taken an initiative to completely eradicate the menace of obscene words, vulgar graffiti etc in coach toilets.

Presenting photograph of an obscene writing during his journey in Delhi-Lucknow Rajdhani Express in July 2014, I had requested the Chairman of Railway Board to initiate action to curb such obscene remarks.

Now Barjesh Dharmani, Deputy Chief Commercial Manager, Northern Railway has intimated me that instructions have been given to all divisions to instruct all the coach attendants and ticket checking staff to have a watch on such miscreants to curb such activities. On board staff has been directed to take remedial action to obliterate such remarks found during duties.

Mechanical Department has also been asked to launch a drive to erase and scrub such dirty remarks in the coach toilets.

I thank Northern Railway officers from the core of my heart.

[rti4empowerment] Letter to CJI about a particular incidence about Collegium system

Friends,

I present link to the letter written by me to the Chief Justice of India narrating a particular incidence related with Collegium system that accidentally came to my notice.

I have presented these facts in public domain for larger public interest, for whatever worth they might be, with the intent of contributing to the betterment of the system, in an extremely critical area, that of judicial appointment process.

I await any responses from my friends.

[rti4empowerment] Madras High Court rectifies its order : “No need to give any reason for requesting the information” asserts High Court in rectified order

Madras High Court rectifies its order : "No need to give any reason for requesting the information" asserts High Court in rectified order

The Madras High Court has on 23-09-2014 (Tuesday) rectified a portion its own order dated 18-09-14 in which it had said that the person who seeks information under Right to Information (R.T.I.) should state the reason for doing so.

"An applicant making a request for information shall not be required to give any reason for requesting the information or any other personal details except those that may be necessary for contacting him," the bench, comprising Justices N Paul Vasanthakumar and K Ravichandrababu, said on Tuesday while hearing a sue motto review application.

The bench noticed it had made an error in its order dated 18-09-14 and rectified it on Tuesday saying Section 6(2) of the RTI Act, 2005, does not say that the person seeking information has to submit details.
