[rti4empowerment] Books on Mayawati and Mulayam Singh

Friends,

"Parinda bhi par nahi maar sakega" (Not even a bird will dare enter the place)
"Tilak Taraju Ya Talwar, inko maro jute chaar" (Head mark, scales or sword, give them a proper shoe –beating)

These are two of the sentences that made a massive impact on the politics and society of Uttar Pradesh and also on the entire Nation.

They are supposed to have been spoken respectively by Mulayam Singh Yadav and Mayawati. Dharti Putr, Neta ji or Mulla Malayam as Mulayam Singh is variously known (in appreciation or in condemnation), has been the Chief Minister of UP for 3 terms. Dalit ki Beti and Behan ji are the popular terms that are often used by people either appreciatingly or derisively for Mayawati, the current and 4-time Chief Minister of UP.  These are the two politicians who have ruled the roost in Uttar Pradesh during the last two decades.

There are many similarities between the two-
1. Both have names starting with M
2. Both have names that are not very modern but sound slightly outdated
3. Both belong to humble and rural background
4. Both were teachers before they joined politics
5. Both have been involved in the politics of the so-called backward castes and low-castes
6. Both are the supremo of their respective political parties which are synonymous with their names
7. Both are known as Congress baiters

There are many more such similarities. There are differences too-
1. Mayawati is unmarried and single and her family does not have much to do with the politics of her party and with administration while Mulayam Singh has a big family whose members are spread greatly in the party and have their own spheres of influence
2. Mayawati had a rapid rise after 1993 while Mulayam's political rise was slow and steady
3. Mayawati is generally perceived as autocrat and unapproachable while Mulayam is said to be closer to his men

But these apart, the fact remains that today in UP, politics and society are seen to be influenced hugely by both these stalwarts. Both have had their shares of controversies which they have steadily and bravely refuted and denied, calling them being nothing more than political rivalry.

These being the basic background, I have decided to write a book on each of these two political masters. There is a great need for such books because-
1. They carry immense influence in UP and in the entire nation
2. There are not many books on these two political persons
3.  Whatever books are there, they are either autobiography (as in Mayawati's case) or a sizeable section of them might be term as hagiographies (for both of them)

The books shall be well researched,  well documented and as value neutral, objective and factual as possible. They would try to understand these two political personalities separately for their impact and influence on the state of Uttar Pradesh and India, not only politically but also socially, economically, culturally and in all other aspects of life.

I would need support of all of you who are interested in these projects and would like to help and support in this project, including sharing your thoughts and any relevant information.
