Dear friends,
Though I support the concept of an ombudsman for India and the Jan Lokpal Bill appears to be better than the awful Govt version, I do not agree with the OUTCOME NO#9 on pg 34 of the Document appended below, which potentially provides for VDS.After decades and decades of mega-corruption,IAC would like us to let these corrupt people go scot free in the sense of their identity being protected.People have been thrown in jail for far less and here IAC-would like us to overlook this corruption. These people should be made examples of and there should be no question of their identities being hidden. This is awfully suspicious.I hope other people will see the reason for my alarm.
Regards
Urvi

With reference to the above link,I have an objection which I have put on the iac community page on Facebook.
" I do not agree with outcome #9,regarding a Voluntary Disclosure Scheme. You expect the people to forgive decades of corruption!!Farmers have committed suicide, just one example. When the truth is out ,we may figure out e.g.that pilots have been forced to fly to the point of exhaustion because airlines may be cutting costs and so remaining short-staffed.There may be so much else!On the one hand ,you have the entire procedure for delegation well-worked out to counter the Government's objection of work overload, then WHY should this BACKLOG OF CORRUPTION-THE REASON WHY INDIA IS WHERE IT IS AND THE REASON WE ARE GOING THROUGH THIS EXERCISE OF THIS ACT,be kept out of the LOKPAL's ambit?Stuff and nonsense!!"
Cheers,
Urvi
