Members of our society called the corporator in our area to impress him of BMC's neglect over a decade to remove encroachment and nuisance generating un authorized activity in the vicinity of our building. This was 3-4 years ago. One of our member claimed he had good raport with him and after sustained pressure he obliged to visit the site.He arrived much to the 'relief' of all the members of our society and the onlookers, he being a vip hoping that we would soon have relief from our our grievances! He got down from his car with his mobile pressed to his ears appearing to talk to some one and walked up and down the road in front of the the building! We followed him with enthusiasm in the hope that the visit would redress our grievances once for all in the days that followed ! Of course we swung with him for more than 30 minutee hoping that we will get an opportunity once his caller disconnect or he stops calling! The members, over 15 of them, started getting restless and after a few minutes he sped away in his car 'assuring' (without understanding) that hw would do the needful ! The place is still infested more and more with unauthorized encroachments (encroachments were increasing from year 1994 and till today BMC turned a deaf ear) The question is was he really attending to some urgent matter on phone over 30 minutes neglecting people who were physically present in front of him with their grievances ? Why then he cut off phone in a couple of seconds when we call to remind him? Is it mandatory that he should attend to a call of a person not in the vicinity instead of those who invited him to see the pathetic condition of the site, ensuring upkeep of that place should have been part of his job ? Is the mobile used as a tool for pretending to be too busy a person and that he does more work on phone than attending to grievance of the public who voted him to power! Need less to mention., all said and done, the Vip has 'prospered' leaps and bounds over the last 20 years and the members of our society is wriggling under nuisance from lack of even the least of legitimate attention from "authorities" Yes I knew telephone and now mobile can be used once in a while to evade but if this is always used as a tool to shirk responsibility where do we go from now!!
