Modi, Uma Bharti criticize Rahul Gandhi's Hindu terror remarks
Mumbai/Lucknow, Dec 18 : Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and former
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Uma Bharti on Saturday slammed Congress
General Secretary for his comments that 'radicalised Hindu groups' posed a
bigger threat to the nation than the Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT). Modi taunted the
Gandhi scion for making such irresponsible remarks.
"I have been wondering for a long time now that the whole world believes that
Pakistan is a terrorist state, yet the US always backs the country. I always
wondered about this but never got an answer", Modi told reporters.
"However, yesterday after the cables were out, it got clear that who gave
inspiration to the US to speak pro-Pakistan", he added.
Meanwhile, Uma Bharti also criticized Rahul Gandhi for making the remarks are
said he should act maturely.
"Rahul is taking notes from Digvijay Singh. Rahul should take class from me,
should study a bit. He should not make irresponsible comments. I will advice
Rahul Gandhi to study history and if Digvijay Singh is not providing good
lessons, he can come to me for classes", she told reporters in Lucknow.
With the BJP criticizing Gandhi for his comments on the issue, the Congress
issued a statement saying: "Rahul Gandhi's view is that terrorism and
communalism of all types is a threat to India. We need to remain vigilant
against acts of terrorism of all kinds, no matter who commits them."
According to a secret US diplomatic cable from New Delhi released by WikiLeaks,
at a luncheon hosted by Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh at his residence in
July 2009, Rahul Gandhi was asked by the US ambassador about LeT's activities in
the region and immediate threat to India, to which he said there was evidence of
some support for the group among certain elements in India's indigenous Muslim
community, the cable notes.
"However, Gandhi warned, the bigger threat may be the growth of radicalised
Hindu groups, which create religious tensions and political confrontations with
the Muslim community," the cable says.

Lucknow, Dec 18: Following Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi's remark,
which has been revealed by WikiLeaks, former BJP leader Uma Bharti criticised
Rahul and Congress.
Rahul said, Saffron terror more dangerous than LeT
"Congress is an irresponsible party. It creates terrorism and seeks votes in its
name," stated Uma on Saturday, Dec 18.
The former BJP leader also added, "LTTE was patronised by Indira Gandhi and
Rajiv Gandhi and the organisation ultimately took the life of Rajiv in a tragic
incident."
Stating about Rahul's remark on "Saffron terror", Uma claimed, "Rahul is taking
notes from Digvijay Singh...Rahul should take class from me, should study a
bit..He should not make irresponsible comments."
