Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda on Monday sprang a surprise of sorts at his first meeting with the deputy commissioners and CEOs of districts. While the latter had come prepared for the meeting with their presentations, the CM said that he too came prepared and had got the reports of all the districts through his sources.

"Two DCs have really done well and I congratulate them. We must all work to bring about a change at the grassroots level which will eventually set right the top order in the government," Gowda said.

"In my office, all files are cleared in less than 15 days and it is mandatory for other government offices to clear files within 15 days also. All deputy commissioners have to submit the programme implementation report by the 5th of every month. Departments must ensure that information sought under the RTI, must be provided to the applicant over the phone," he said.

The CM also announced that a new portal, Swagath, would be launched soon for the effective implementation of egovernance. BMB
