Re: [rti4empowerment] Re: Encroachments And Traffic

Dear All,
From experience I know that Mr. Balamvar is known to to be a very tough cookie to crack for people who dont toe the line such as encroachers. I am eagerly waiting to see if he will make a dent in the nexus or will he go the Rokade way who was also known to be a terror for encroachers in one way.

I have a serious doubt that he will be able to do something till we have a sea change in the mindset of the citizens themselves. The next time there is a 26/7 and your home gets flooded and someone you knows dies of leptosis ( I know someone who did) and the Courts hold the Officers condoning encroachments in his area blocking the outflow of water as guilty of manslaughter contributing to his death like they do abroad, the slums will dissappear overnight.

As of now ,we have politicians crowing in papers about how they "PROTECTED" XYZ slum from demolition and no one can do anything. In India we have a scene of glory without responsibility.

Best Wishes,
Indi

Hello all,

This is the reality.

Illegal encroachers get full freedom to do do whatever they please, anywhere they please, Citizens are secondary in the eyes of the administration to whom they actually are answerable.

These offenders Deepavali is Bright, and Happy, while we are at their mercy.

The authorities are not at all interested in adhering to the Mumbai Municipal Act, 1888, 308 to 325, 522, and the Indian Penal Code, let alone orders on orders from the Supreme Court, and Mumbai high Court and in general, make the daily lives of the ordinary Citizens  that much better than the misery wee are going through nowadays for the past decade and more at least.

Whatever happened to this

See the highlighted last paragraph, is it a joke or what.

>>>

Truly mind boggling at the lame excuses given, pressure, holiday season, shortage of staff, non cooperation from other department.

As the fact is the departments are clearly deficient in service, and totally negligent in their Constitutional duties, as good as abdicating their mandate and statutory responsibilities, and virtually in Contempt of Court, it is time to request the Indian Army in this internal emergency situation.

How different is this from violent terrorism, than silent terrorism, occupying public space, not allowing Citizens their right to safe and secure mobility on foot paths, carriageways, and even cases of violence against those who call for action against offenders, with subsequent no action taken against the perpetrators.

These perpetrators and abettors have betrayed the people of The Republic of India, that is, Bharatha, by their actions and lack of actions, and by virtue of that, are as good as traitors.

Thanqx.

Jagdeep

Happy Diwali to all.

But with diwali has come lot of inconvenience and danger to citizens of mumbail. All hawkers have extended their shops by 5 feet on linking road causing people to walk on the road. (Opp national college and opp tel exchange)

This is not only dangerous but causes traffic jam. The BMC van and traffic crane staff is helpless as they are singled out and cannot do anytime.

Same is the condition with Irla Lane outside Alfa. Similar is the mess at lokhandwala. Hawkers have kept empty boxes to block foothpath and mark their territory.

Some of the hawkers are storing fire crackers dangerously and no one has taken note of this.

Milan subway road has seeing lot of new cars getting accessories fitted and that too in double parking on in the middle of the new flyover.

Please make this diwali safe and take action.

To decongest city, civic body cracks whip on hawkers

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has begun a massive drive to remove hawkers in congested areas of the city, especially near railway stations, due to security reasons during the festive season. The civic body has removed over 900 hawkers in a week-long drive from areas in Dadar Andheri, Ghatkopar and Chembur, and is planning to remove around 20,000 hawkers across the city in the next few months.
The drive is being undertaken to avoid chaos during Diwali rush in the city and also as a precautionary measure in case of a attack or disaster.
"Usually in times of attack or disaster, it becomes difficult to manage crowds and it can lead to loss of lives. The drive will continue throughout the year. We will remove hawkers near railways stations and other congested areas in a phase-wise manner," said V Balamvar, deputy municipal commissioner, removal of encroachments.
