New Delhi: Central Board of Secondary Education's (CBSE) double standard on the RTI Act has caused it a big embarrassment. Central Information Commission has directed CBSE to divulge answer keys of the All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEE) or submit an affidavit, if records have been destroyed.
To a separate query about marks data of each AIEEE candidate, CBSE demanded Rs 10 lakh from an RTI applicant. But CIC ordered CBSE to supply free marks data of each candidate while withholding the student's roll number and name.
CBSE had refused to supply answer keys stating that "the larger public interest does not warrant disclosure".
