[rti4empowerment] Re: WORLD CUP AND INSIGHTS INTO QUALITY OF POLITICIANS

While the sportsman in me applaud and congratulate the  team I am unable to rejoice further as the game has grown in proportion huge enough to be used as a tool to promote corruption, discrimination,,deprivation and so on!

Without poverty and starvation deaths not being eliminated no growth is growth! Having seen corruption and scams of mind  boggling amounts on one side and poverty and starvation increasing on other side motivating a handfful of players and then making them a tool meet

There is no doubt about the fact that high end cricket

is riding on corruption  at higher echelons making abundance of illegitimate money (which we have all seen) and the players enabling them making money ( of course sharing windfalls) they too are aiding and abetting corruption, being elements in the syndicate!   The bate of huge money is the motivation and there is no patriotism or such kind involved!!!

Cricket to day, yes, is a business where the players are the race horses (with unlimited scope for amassing wealth
and the organizers and the "govt" are the conductors and receipients! The contry wherefrom we have borrowed this game to do not exhibit the  madness and attribute importance as as we do!

WORLD CUP AND INSIGHTS INTO QUALITY OF POLITICIANS

Even as we rejoice the great Indian victory and its ramifications on

manifestations of patriotism of an average Indian, the Indian politicians

are yet again proving what we  already know-that they are incompetent,

greedy and most of all, arrogant.

Cricket is identified as a religion in India. Also it is a unifying factor for the

multi- racial, multi- linguistic, multi -religious populace of India. The love for

cricket transcends all other passions. The sheer professionalism, hard work

and perseverance displayed by our players have won the hearts of Indians

living in India and those who emigrated long years ago.

While the greats like Sachin, Dhoni and Zaheer were setting examples on the

field, our elected representatives were fighting for their passes and specific

enclosures for their kith and kin. If reports are to be believed, they were not

satisfied with the numbers offered by BCCI.

Contrast this with the grim visuals of thousands of cricket fans lining up

outside the stadia to get tickets to see their heroes in action and being lathi

charged for the inefficiency of administrators who gifted away most of the

tickets. Deep exploitation of commercialisation of cash-rich sports be it CWG

or Cricket has at its top, politicians of all colours and shades who have never

been sportsmen in their lives.

Are they doing national service or service to themselves and their near and

dear ones? What makes an MP/MLA feel that he deserves a pass, when the

aam admi is being brutalised by the police for merely wanting to buy a ticket

with his hard earned money? What is the difference between an Englishman

who ruled us and the arrogance of the elected representative? Unless those

who contest elections want to serve the people and not rule them, we will

continue to witness even more nauseating scenes. And pertinently, we will be

responsible, as, we let these uncivilised nominees be elected by narrow

margins by staying away from casting our votes.

PPI has been relentlessly opposing VIPism and the shameless display of

money and muscle power in politics. We have carefully crafted our manifestos

and policies to ensure that such blatant disregard of civilised behaviour does

not find its way among professionals in politics. Do you want to bring about a

change to cleanse politics in India? Join PPI today. Just visit ppi.net.in
