| Friends, We all know that Police service is an interesting one and also a most challenging one. We also know that Indian Police Service (IPS) which was initially called Indian Police is considered the premier among all Police services in India and is regarded next only to the IAS. I am writing a book, for which I have chosen the following title of the book- "Colours of Khaki- Destined to Posterity." The purpose of the book is to bring before the readers the various facets of the senior Police service. At the same time, it is an attempt at making people realize that life is an extremely uncertain affair. Just thing of the fact that all these IPS/ IP officers came to the same service, through the same examination process, underwent through the same training program, all of them became Assistant Superintendent of police and then Superintendent of police. But then? All of them underwent through their own life trajectory, which was as different as it could be. How else one defines the fact that all of the following are IPS/IP officers of the same service, same exam, same Academy, same training- I have chosen 30 of these officers whose life I shall be presenting in brief. The book is half ready. It shall not have any earth-shaking revelations nor will it have any in depth analysis but will more in the nature of bringing the various "Colours of Khaki".
