In reference to the ALM meeting at Ward K West, 2011 MAR 20.
Truly unfortunate that the officers answered and behaved the way they did.
After attending such meetings, its seriously frustrating, and we get a sense of futility as to what is happening, as peaceful citizens, we can't go around venting our fury against this kind of inaction on part of the MCGM.
Here are some of the observations on the proceedings.
01 The meeting was to start at 10h00.
Except for four representatives of various ALM, including the undersigned, no one was present from MCGM Ward K West.
They came at 10h15, no sorry, no apologies, no regrets
02 Representatives were told that unless they are official representatives, don't come to such meetings from next time to waste other representatives times
03 This is not a complaints redressal meeting, only follow ups of previous matters to be discussed.
No matter if there was no action on the earlier matter either.

Endless meetings on the same points
04 Don't bother about outside your area, just talk about your area.
And if you want to protest, then you are free to go out and do morcha or whatever
05 Be specific if a drain cover is missing, give the exact location, street light number and place, only then can action be taken, money and funds permitting.
The MCGM's engineers and supervisors don't bother to make regular visits and checks, citizens have to do the observation, investigation, and informing, and even after that, so what
06 Even if roads are being used by the public, if the road is still with the developer, no street lights can be fitted till the developer or MMRDA, hands over the road to MCGM, and that too, only if there are funds.
Citizens are even prepared to pay for such basic necessities for safety and security, but nothing
07 Overflowing and uncleared open garbage bins are the public's fault, the ALM should inculcate civic sense in the area's citizens, make sure they deposit garbage in segregated bins at the specific times, then MCGM will slowly remove the open garbage bins and introduce door to door collection from individual garbage containers.
Don't tell us what to do, you better do what you don't have to, but have to
08 Regarding hawkers don't bring up the same problem, everyone knows there is draft policy on urban vendors being discussed at the Centre and States levels, so as and when it is finalised, MCGM will act accordingly.
Till then, be happy with the encroachment action taken every now, its being taken, for God's sake.
What about the existing rules, acts, how about enforcing the law.
There are double, triple layers of hawkers in sand around Andheri Station West area and on S V Road, and the foot path.
So what if it is a no hawking zone, declared by the Supreme Court.
So what, for God's sake.

09 What about agenda, minutes, action taken report.
ALM coordinator is not there, ask him, you don't know our problems.
'Ek baar bol diya na, yeh shikayat kendra nahin hai'
So friends, the ALM meetings are being held in the K West MCGM Conference Hall as a great service to residents.
Means we are highly obliged that these fellows actually have some time to listen to grievances, problems, complaints, but won't do a thing to alleviate or relieve them except for exceptions.
There is something seriously wrong in the attitude of the administration.
Instead of working for the public, public has to work for their public service officials.
The World will move light years ahead, our officials will give the cheapest excuses to not do even the most basic services.
