[rti4empowerment] HC seeks reply in petition for 5 days week office

Friends,

I feel truly happy to stated that in the petition filed by me, along with policeman Satish Singh as regards different working schemes in district and headquarter offices, the Allahabad High Court, Lucknow Bench has sought reply from the State government within a week. The next day of hearing is on 03 January 2014.

The bench of Justice Devi Prasad Singh and Justice Ashok Pal Singh prima-facie agreed with our counsel Asok Pande that different offices having similar job profile can't have different number of working days per week and hence asked reply on why district offices are 5-days week and Headquarters office 6-days week.

The petition said that the UP government introduced the five days working scheme on 30 October 2004 for "healthy work culture in administration, working efficiency and better productivity." But this was limited only to Head of Department (HOD) offices and not to district offices having very similar job requirements. Hence the we had prayed to allow 5 days week even in district offices.

What it once again shows is that we can all contribute our bit to structural improvements through available legal means.
