FIR sought against imposters posing as Insurance authorities

I have presented an application to police station Hazratganj, Lucknow for registration of FIR against imposters posing as different insurance authorities.

Yesterday I got a call at my mobile number 094155-34526 from 011-48704800 from one Neha from Insurance Service Complaint Department which she claimed was a government department under the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority (IRDA). She told me that if I was having any problems with my insurance policies, it would be taken care within 20-25 days, for which she needed my Pan card number, bank account details, copy of legal bonds, policy details etc.

I searched for this department on website and found that no such department actually exists. I made many calls at that number and got no response from the other end. I then contacted LIC headquarters, Hazratganj where I was told that these are fraud being committed only to get the bank details and PAN card details which these people misuse for swindling money.

Even sometimes back a friend of mine Ashutosh Pandey had got similar call from someone claiming to be calling from a government department Public Fund Transfer department, Pune who asked for similar details.

These being criminal offence under sections 170, 417, 418, 420, 511 IPC along with sections  66A and 66D Information Technology Act 2000, to safeguard many innocent persons duped through this process, I have presented an application for registration of FIR to ps Hazratganj,Lucknow. FIR has not been registered so far.
