[rti4empowerment] Second IRDS Hindi Film Awards for Social Concern

Friends,

Acknowledging the deep impact of cinema on Indian socio-cultural life, Institute for Research and Documentation in Social Sciences (IRDS), the Lucknow based civil society shall be bestowing the Second IRDS Hindi Film Awards for social concern. These awards shall be conferred to Hindi films released in year 2012 that have been concerned primarily with social issues.

They shall be presented for six categories of Best Hindi film, Best male character, Best female character, Best director, Best story and Best song. The award shall not go by the commercial success or failure of the film, the glitz and the glamour but solely on the basis of the social issues raised by these films and the concern shown for social causes.

Last year the awards went to Bol (Best film), Raunak Kaul, the DJ (Film- Soundtrack- Best male character), Silk (film Dirty Picture- Best female character), Onir (film I Am, Best director), Kya Yahi Sach Hai (Best story) and Mauka (film Arakshan- best song).

The awards shall be picked by a Jury headed by me and shall be announced on 15th January 2013. I request all my friends to provide their suggestions and feedback on this, so that we are able to do justice with this work.
