 The
Indian Government moved a proposal at the 66th session at the 66th
session of the Un General Assembly on 26th Oct 2011 proposing a 50
member intergovermental UN Committee on Internet related policies (
CIRP) . This proposal was moved at the UN without consultation in
Parliament or inviting any feedback from citizens of the country . This
body would control the internet , regulate it through treaties and
oversee all bodies responsible for the technical and operational
functioning of the internet . The body would be funded by and reporting
to the UN General Assembly . To summarize , all internet control would
be placed in the hands of this 50 member body , owned and reporting to
the Governments of of the world which would comprise countries like
Russia , China , Sudan , Iran Cuba , Uzbekistan to name a few - no
democratically elected Governments and no respect for an individual's
right to freedom .This would change the face of the internet as we know
it today which comprises of approx 2.5 billion users . The reason being
given that the current internet regime is too close to the US government
and it's internet related policies .
Carl Frazen an expert on internet related policies has given his
expert views on this matter . Given below is the link to his report .

It is shocking state of affairs and unless this matter is quickly
brought in the public domain through the media and discussed in
Parliament this weak UPA Government would sign this treaty and our
freedom guranteed by the Constitution of India would be destroyed . The
Government needs to stopped in it's tracks by the force of Public
opinion and the media . The India Government cannot give away our hard
won freedom in this stealthy manner . This matter should be raised in
the Monsoon session of Parliament and citizens and opposition parties
ask for a convincing explanation from the Government on it's stand taken
in the United Nations . Let us all unite and confront the government
 on this sensitive issue .
