Announcement- Third IRDS awards 2012
Institute for Research and Documentation in Social Sciences (IRDS), a Non-governmental organization from Lucknow presents the Third IRDS awards 2012 to Ashish Khetan (Print Media), Shalabh Mani Tripathi (Electronic Media), Sunitha Krishnan (Human Rights), Shakeel Ahmad (Law), Dr Manjari Tripathi (Medicine), Venkat Krishnan N (Management) and Sanjiv Chaturvedi (Government s ervices).
Ashish Khetan is an investigative journalist from Tehelka known for is work on Godhra and 2G scam. Shalabh Mani Tripathi is Lucknow based correspondent of IBN-7 who had to suffer police atrocities due to his reporting on Dr Sachan death. Sunitha Krishnan works for rehabilitation of trafficked women through her Hyderabad based organization Prajwala. Associate Professor in AIIMS, Dr Manjari Tripathi has done commendable research work in field of neurology and epilepsy. Shakeel Ahmad of Mumbai based Nirbhay Bano organization supports minority causes through judicial intervention. Venkat Krishnan N of Eklavya school and Give India foundation (Banglore) works on principle of ethical management while Sanjiv Chaturvedi, whistle-blower IFS officer from Harayana has helped unearth many scams in the state.
These awards named after Alok Tomar, Surendra Pratap Singh, Safdar Hashmi, V N Shukla, Anandi Bai Joshi, Manjunath Shanmugam and Satyendra Dubey. The jury for the award was headed by socially active IPS officer Amitabh Thakur.
