Good day Dear Brothers and Sisters, Its Sunday, January 15th 2012   Its that time of the year that is fast becoming nostalgic for me For it was on this day 5 years ago that I launched the Cybugle newsletter into cyberspace on Jan 15th 2007 (Makar Sankranti fell on Jan 15th also that year) The Ruler of the Zodiac (The SUN) enters the sign ruled by His eldest son Shani (Saturn) and heralds the the beginning of the day of the Gods which Hindus know as Uttarayan The seasons too undergo a change as winter peaks and starts to decline from this day onwards in popular belief And If reports coming in about the weather even as I am penning this are to be believed, the sky has opened for the rays of the Sun God to break through and the weather has become pleasantly warm Our ancient seers and sages did not just on a whim create traditions and rituals but rather incorporated them into the cyclical changes of the seasons as an aid to remaining in harmony with the laws governing natural phenomena and change .... Exchanging Gachak or Rewadi (In Punjab) and til gud (in maharashtra), these signify a thawing of winter in our hearts and also as a source of energy to generate warmth in our bodies that is shared in a bonhomie of human bonding The festival of Lohri in Punjab dedicated to fire God Agni that precedes Sankranti is another ritual for bonding with our bretheren One cannot but marvel at the wisdom of the sages to have seen so far off into the future and to have made provisions for it .. A cursory look around us tells us more than enough the extent to which we have strayed away from the righteous path and How the observance of rituals still stand as the bulwark against outright hedonism CYBUGLE was formed and will continue to stimulate thinking for ones self improvement in every which that it can ... with increasing stress on practical steps that one can take and the breaking of dogmas that freezes one into inaction Towards such a goal, lets renew our faith and break through the clouds of ignorance and suspicion with the light of awareness Here's praying that the SUN of knowledge illuminates our path towards righteousness and thus our salvation ...
