Today my wife Nutan sent a representation to the Chief Secretary, Uttar Pradesh asking him to restructure the present huge Compounds around the houses of many government officials.
It says that the bungalows of many government officials in Uttar Pradesh are surrounded by acres of land which is no more required nor appropriate. These include particularly the houses of DM, SP, Commissioner, IG, DIG and other PCS and PPS officers. I have said that these posts are the creation of British Raj and acted as the symbol of the Raj. Today the population has increased manifold, land is a scarcity and even Government land is not easily available.
In such circumstances, these huge compounds spread in acres of land are a bad joke on the people of this Nation where huge government paraphernalia is also being used.
Hence the representation requests that a Committee consisting of Chairman, Revenue Board, Principal Secretary, Revenue and Principal Secretary, Housing shall look into this issue to ensure that the non-functional land gets separated from these compounds and are used for essential purposes.

I personally seem to fully endorse this idea, adding on my own- "Why only UP, this exercise shall be done all over the Country". When crores of people don't have a few square feet of land/house to live in, why shall a government servant have acres of prime land around his house?
Time for a rethinking, isn't it dear friends?
