It was good to read in the papers this morning that Goa will have evening courts too. However, the excellent idea is diluted. It would have been proper to have added a few additional courts, made the part-time courts to full time,. and had two sessions of each courtroom infrastructure, say from 8.00 am to 12.30 pm and from 1.30 pm to 5.30 pm. The rest of the time the judges would write judgements / orders. This way, the quality of hearings and judgments would have improved, and the cases would also have been decided quickly and efficently.
Anyway its a start in the right direction. One hopes the rest of the country follows.
It is equally important, if not much more important, to have some effective accountability of judges, some, if not many of whom have become a law onto themselves even to the extent of open conspiracy / abetment / corruption.
