01. CWP-14911 OF 2012 Challenging the Institution of Collegium in the Punjab State Information Commission

The formation of the Institution of Collegium in the Punjab State Information Commission is under scanner of Hon'ble Punjab & Haryana High Court in CWP-14611 of 2012 which was admitted by the bench of Justice Rajesh Bindal admitted that CWP and issued urgent and short Datsi Notices to all the respondents and fixed the next date on 13 August 2012.

On 13 August 2012 the CWP came up for hearing.

During the hearing, Mr. Bali pleaded the matter well as three officials from the Commission along with their counsel were present in the court and requested for adjournment. Mr. Bali vehemently contested the adjournment reminding the court about the urgency of the matter as a very short notice was given to the respondents. Mr. Bali also pleaded that if court allows more time to the respondent the Court must take a serious view of the matter and the Institution of the Collegium should be suspended in the meanwhile. Court has dictated the suitable order and adjourned the case to 14 September 2012 allowing a month's time to respondents to file reply/affidavits.

The court announced specifically that the Respondents will serve their written statement to the petitioner, well in advance of next date and the date 14.9.2012 so fixed is for final arguments. Court also showed its concern to the request for adjournment sought by the respondents and had remarked that it is not only petition of the petitioner which is lying for adjudication before the collegeium, but must be many more other's also. So no delay be done by the respondents.

And by sending its three officials (Dy. Registrar and Accounts officer cum PIO along with one more officer of the PSIC), can be well understood the excitement of the respondents and it pinched me that how the valuable time of PSIC officials is mercilessly being wasted to just appear in court where they expect no business but to pray for adjournment.

This is a very bold step by Mr. Bali and it has already stirred the commission, as can be observed from the activities in the commission. Mr. Bali commented - "I am much satisfied from the progress in matter".

02. Bus Stop Quiz
You are driving down the road in your car on a wild, stormy night, when you pass by a bus stop and you see three people waiting for the bus:

1. An old lady who looks as if she is about to die.

2. An old friend who once saved your life.

3. The perfect partner you have been dreaming about and haven't seen for years.

Which one would you choose to offer a ride to, knowing that there could only be one passenger in your car? Think before you continue reading.

This is a moral/ethical dilemma that was once actually used as part of a job application.. You could pick up the old lady, because she is going to die, and thus you should save her first.. Or you could take the old friend because he once saved your life, and this would be the perfect chance to pay him back. However, you may never be able to find your perfect mate again.

YOU WON'T BELIEVE THIS.....................

The candidate who was hired (out of 200 applicants) had no trouble coming up with his answer. He simply answered: 'I would give the car keys to my old friend and let him take the lady to the hospital. I would stay behind and wait for the bus with the partner of my dreams.'

Sometimes, we gain more if we are able to give up our stubborn thought limitations.

Never forget to 'Think Outside of the Box.'

Gosh, I just love happy endings!
