Do we need a Men's Commission as well?
Women have their own specific and typical problems and this cannot be denied by any sensible and sensitive person, leaving aside foolish kind of chauvinistic or extremely biased persons. While women all over the globe have certain special problems faced by them but possibly the situation is worse in developing countries vis-à-vis the developed nations. Dowry, women related sexual assaults and sexual harassments, women torture-physical and mental etc are some such problems faced by women of developing nations, including Indian women, which they face merely because of being women.
In this aspect, the National and State level Women commissions have their special and specific roles and relevance which are tailor-made to cater to the specific women related problems and women issues.
But there is another aspect that needs to be given attention. It is the men's problems. It is true that men related problems are much lesser as compared to that of women but in the changing social, cultural scenario, these problems are acquiring further heights and seriousness. While some 50 years ago, possibly no one would have thought that a man would face any problem for being a male, today there are ample amount of men who have been duped, tortured, harassed and exploited as men by clever, cunning, dangerous, power-hungry women. These instances include false dowry cases, false torture and harassment cases and at times even false sexual assault cases. In addition, cunning, devilish, ill-thinking and daredevil women are also seen exploiting their physical, economic, social positions to exploit and even ruin men emotionally, physically and mentally.
It is true that now instances of men being harassed, exploited and cheated by women in many ways, at times going to the extent of ruing them, is not a matter related only with whimsical and imaginary thinking but is actually taking place around us, as can be verified from the various newspaper reports that come in this regards.
In such circumstances, it seems logical and necessary that just in the manner that Women commissions have been formed to cater to the special and specific needs of women, Men's commission shall also be formed specially for men to provide them justice in all such cases where the men have been exploited and harassed by exploitative women solely for being men.
These are only by initial thoughts on this subject which could be correct and could also be incorrect. They might also need many amendments. Hence, I request you all to provide your independent opinions on this issue so that I can come to some definite conclusion and might even decide to further pursue the matter to the best of my ability.
