Subject: [rti4empowerment] FIR registered in FB Kidney racket case
FIR No 333/2014 under sections 270, 336, 403, 413, 414, 420, 467, 468, 511 IPC along with 19, the Transplantation of Human Organs Act 1994 presented by me on 13 May to police station Gomtinagar, Lucknow against an alleged Kidney racket on Facebook has been registered today. SI Indra Pal Singh is the investigating officer.
In the FIR, I had narrated facts about a friend Pratik Jain from Noida having sent me a Facebook message regarding one Anurag Joshi contacting him for sale of kidney at 3.5-4 lakh rupees. I also talked to that person on phone who told me that I would get around 3 lakhs for my kidney. For this I would have to come to Pune and from there to Iran, the entire arrangement being made at his end.
He asked me about my age, blood group and passport and told me that the money will be given in advance. He also told me that since my age is slightly on upper hand (45), hence it will take around 10 days to get a receptor but if I had a young person in contact, his kidney can be sold immediately.
When no FIR was registered by the police station, I had personally met Praveen Kumar, SSP Lucknow on 15 May who assured me registration of FIR by evening.
The matter kept pending despite SSP's assurance after which I wrote to DGP not only to get the FIR registered but to also take action against concerned police officers having defied the Supreme Court order of mandatory registration of FIR.
I hope the matter reaches some logical conclusion and something good emerges out of it.
