Friends, Yesterday (10/08/2011) night while coming from Lucknow to Meerut in Nauchandi express (Train No 14511) along with my husband Amitabh, in second sleeper coach S7 in Nauchandi express birth No- 31 and 32 we had a very strange and humiliating experience. First, two GRP constables came in our coach and told us in a most discourteous and humiliating tone to chain our goods. While apparently they were saying things good for us but their behaviour was very-very bad. Off-course they did not know that one of the persons sitting in the coach was himself a senior IPS officer. They had no reason to believe that an IPS officer will travel in Second class. But the matter of fact is that he often travels in second sleeper. Amitabh kept quite and did not react.
Later one Sub Inspector of GRP came and he woke me up along with other people at about 2 AM. He asked me to chain my goods and be cautious. But he was doing this is the most humiliating manner and was badly misbehaving. He was doing so with other passengers also. There was another women sleeping near me with whom he was unnecessarily talking. Thus these GRP people were saying these things about being cautious so many times that I started thinking that these policemen have got mixed with some thieves and were unnecessarily making such drama so that if later my goods get stolen, they will only accuse me that they had already warned about this. I could not sleep through out the night. When we reached Meerut and asked at GRP police station, we were told by the Station Officer and others that it was done on the orders of the ADG of GRP Sri A K Jain and SP, GRP, Morabadad I have talked to the ADG Sri Jain but he said he had not given any such order. I have made a written complaint to the ADG but I feel so bad that many a times certain police officers make a mockery of their duty. I don't understand why these people behave in such manners as to make the image of police going from bad to worse. If the officers feel that they shall help the passengers, they shall also tell the Constables how to do this in a courteous and decent behaviour. The way the behaved only made all of us feel extremely annoyed and frightened, making me doubtful that these GRP people might have started this new game of harassing and abusing the passengers and getting their goods stolen. My prime reason for making a complain is that we shall all resist such arbitrary behaviour in all possible ways so that they don't get repeated with others.
