[rti4empowerment] Permission not required to investigate senior babus ...... Landmark judgement by Hon'ble SC

1. There is great news today. As reported, the Hon'ble Supreme Court has held that no permission is required to investigate senior babus. It may be recalled that an earlier Congress Party had passed the "Single Point Directive" that necessitated permission from the government to prosecute senior babus. I believe this was at a later time withdrawn, only to be reintroduced again by BJP under the Law Minister Mr. Jaitley. It is for this reason, together with the fact that the said Mr. Jaitley failed in his duty to increase the number of courts ..... a failure widely perceived to favour and shield a few partymen / corrupt types sacrificing the broader interest of the nation, that this writer has felt that Mr. Jaitley is unfit to be a cabinet minister, much in the same way as Dr. Manmohan Singh.

2. It is time to now get rid of the highly discriminatory "Anticipatory Bail" junk.

Great service has been done by Senior Advocate Mr. Prashant Bhushan, AAP, and their teams. Hats off and many thanks to them.

Come on Congress and BJP wake up, mature up. Talk issues. Why are you holding up elections in Delhi? Why did you not hold them alongwith Lok Sabha elections?

[rti4empowerment] Is tobacco one of the healthiest things for you?

Is tobacco one of the healthiest things for you?

"It's tobacco, it's one of the healthiest things for your body." - Dr. Orva, Woody Allen'sSleeper.
Before you stone me with goji berries and golden flaxseed, let me posit.

At some point, moderate amounts of natural tobacco or nicotine will eventually be shown to be healthy for most people.
There, I said it.

With the exception of a very occasional cigar (2 or 3 a year), I am not a smoker and find the smell of
cigarette smoke offensive, but I am basing my theory on two things: Most of what we believe today is wrong,
and people have been using natural tobacco for thousands of years.

Moderate amounts of caffeine, chocolate and alcohol were, until recently, known to be "poisonous"
but are now, when done properly, quite healthy, thank you very much.

Traditional Native American societies used tobacco for wisdom insight, sociality, healing and
increased mental clarity and stamina.

Nicotine dilates blood vessels and may prove to be as effective as half an aspirin a day.

Scientific studies are finding that nicotine may help people with Alzheimer's disease, so says
The National Health Museum, that includes Sen. Dianne Feinstein on its board.

Let me be clear. I'm not advocating 3 packs of Winstons a day to feel fresh and renewed or
even one Winston. The stuff in most cigarettes is as far away from tobacco as you can get and still call it tobacco.

I'm talking about organically grown, naturally cured, small amounts of tobacco, the way they used to do it.

But where drinking a bottle of wine a day will overwhelm any health benefits, a glass a day or
every other day is now considered one  of  10 miracle foods, So too nature's tobacco?
(P.S. I barely drink wine either).

Most of the ill effects of tobacco in my opinion, come from the horrendous Frankensteinian-ization it undergoes
by the tobacco industry as they "improve" the product with chemicals and god-knows-what, as well as
the paper most tobacco smoke is wrapped in.

Let your instinct be your guide. In my wellness experience, with most things:
Nature good, human "improvements" bad (snake poison and hemlock excepted).
That is, if the natural state of something is healthy, humans' interference with it usually
spells health disaster (see also Chicken McNuggets).

For great anti-oxidant power you can always go for some kimchi.

With best wishes,

[rti4empowerment] Fwd: [aloktholiya] I fear few of those who are Atankwadi and Talibani

Most Muslims are good and some are exceptionally good. But I fear few of those who are Atankwadi and Talibani and who can b very dangerous. Only family planning can keep some control and then a fair treatment, good education and good job opportunity to all equally.

[rti4empowerment] petition challenging prohibition of govt criticism by IAS, IPS officers

Friends,

I have filed a petition in the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT), Lucknow challenging the complete prohibition on the members of All India Services to criticize any recent policies or acts of the State government.

The petition says that rule 7 of the All India Services Conduct Rules 1968 makes a blanket prohibition on any statement of fact or opinion having adverse criticism of any current or recent policy or action of the Central Government or a State Government made by IAS, IPS and IFS officers, but such a blanket ban in too wide and vague to be legally sustainable.

The petition says that the right to freedom of speech and expression can be curtailed only through the restrictions imposed under Article 19(2) of the Constitution but the restrictions under Rule 7 are completely unrelated with these grounds and hence they need to be quashed

Here is a copy of the petition for ur kind advice and useful suggestions--
